Thank you for wanting to have your child baptised at St Gabriel's.
Baptisms should normally be in your local parish church, and you can find out your parish church through this link: https://www.achurchnearyou.com
Baptisms are usually held at 2pm on the second Sunday in the month, and there will be a maximum of 2 families at each service. Once you submit this form we will be in touch with you to arrange a meeting with you at church where we can meet you and your child/children and talk about the meaning of baptism and go through the service with you. At this point we will book a date for you.
Notes for Godparents:
• Godparents promise to nurture their godchild in the Christian faith. Godparents are asked: ‘Will you care for them, pray for them, draw them by your example into the Christian faith, and help them to take their place in the life and worship of Christ’s church’.
Godparents, therefore, need to be Christians who will show their godchild how to follow Jesus. They need to be comfortable in saying the vows in the service, which are: ‘I turn to Christ, I repent of my sins, I renounce evil’.
• Because of the very special role they have in supporting your child’s faith journey, godparents should be adults and must be baptised themselves. Ideally they should be confirmed too. We suggest a MAXIMUM of 6 godparents.
• Parents may be godparents for their own children, providing they have at least one other godparent.
• Children should have at least one male and one female godparent
